The Scout, the striking directorial debut from Paula Andrea González-Nasser, is a quietly riveting character study wrapped in the bustle of New York City. At its center is Sofia, a location scout tasked with finding the perfect interiors for a new TV pilot—yet what she’s really searching for may be harder to pin down. She slips in and out of strangers’ homes, capturing fleeting moments of intimacy, curiosity, and vulnerability, until her work takes a sudden, personal turn.

Driven by strong, nuanced performances and a keen emotional intelligence, The Scout pulls back the curtain on a little-seen corner of the entertainment industry while exploring the invisible lines between personal and professional, connection and intrusion. New York is more than a backdrop—it’s a living, breathing co-star. Teeming with contradictions, the city becomes a map of endless reinvention, chance encounters, and unspoken stories waiting behind every door.—Cara Cusumano
